Jett Strauss is the Studio Residency Recipient for January 1 - April 30, 2020
Jett Strauss (born 1989 in New York, NY) works across video, photo, and sculpture. He often ruminates on a memory from his childhood when his digital avatar fell to its death. With his buttocks and teeth clenched, he cracked his game controller in two with his bare hands. Today his work grows from the murk located between cyberspace and meatspace—which is to say, out of deep-seated emotional conflict. He holds a BFA from Tisch School of the Arts, NYU and an MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. He teaches video and internet-based art practice at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers.

Victoria Haynes is the Studio Residency Recipient for May 1 - August 31, 2019
Victoria Haynes (b. 1992, Atlanta GA) received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2015. Past exhibitions include Kai Matsumiya (New York), Gern en Regalia (Queens), MX Gallery (New York), 18th St Art Center (Los Angeles), AMP (Provincetown). Her sculptural and painting practice also includes a period of research and investigation. These researches have taken her to some interesting places; including Sleepy Hollow NY, Fort Wayne Indiana, the Urbana University in Ohio, The Library of Congress, and (soon) Millennium Park in Chicago.

Shani Strand is the Studio Residency Recipient for September 1 - December 31, 2018
Shani Strand (b. 1995 in New York, NY/ raised in Teaneck, New Jersey) works with various materials to create objects and installations that fantasize about spaces known and unknown, but inevitable productions of cultural creolization. She plays with local vernacular and globalized language to explore the hybridity that appears in most cultures, but specifically out of post-colonial conditions. In 2017 she received her BA from Oberlin College in Studio Art and English. She has exhibited at 15 Orchard Street (New York) and SPACES (Cleveland). She lives and works in New York.

Ellie Hunter is the Studio Residency Recipient for May 1 - August 31, 2018
Ellie Hunter (b. 1989 in San Francisco, CA) works with sculpture, installation and video. She received her MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University (2017), where she was the recipient of the VCU Graduate Thesis Grant. She has participated in residencies at Rupert (2018), Ox-Bow (2014) and Brooklyn Art Space (2013). Recent and upcoming exhibitions include a two-person show at PEACH (Rotterdam), a two-person show with at Vox Populi (Philadelphia), a solo show at Editorial Projects (Vilnius), an artist book with Mascot Studios + Publication Studios SF (San Francisco), and My Mountain (Los Angeles), organized by Alexandra Noel & Naoki Sutter-Shudo. Hunter is the co-founder of The Sunroom, a gallery and publishing platform currently based in Richmond, VA.

Em Rooney (b. 1983) received her BA from Hampshire College in 2005 and her MFA from Tyler School of Art in 2011. In 2012 she was a participant at Skowhegan. Roxanne Yamins (b.1988) is an artist interested in exploring the intersection between behavior in everyday life and the objects produced by society considered a necessity for living. Recent works investigate the role of machines and apparatus made for the sharing of experience and reciprocal conduct. Roxanne Yamins received her undergraduate education from The Cooper Union and completed her BFA at Cornell University in 2012. She received her MFA in sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth in 2014.

Daniel Pillis is the Studio Residency Recipient for January 1st – April 30th, 2017
Daniel Pillis (b. 1984) is an author, animator and un-appropriation artist. Pillis was born in the same hospital as David Wojnarowicz in Red Bank, NJ, and grew up in a suburb and a junkyard. Bruce Springsteen is his cousin, and they have met twice; once in a hospital, and once on the streets. Pillis studied Psychology, English and Art at Rutgers University, NJ; later focusing on installation, computer graphics, and robotics at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, PA. Pillis drove Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt to Skowhegan in 2013, and also lived in Chelsea rent-free for one year. Previous exhibitions include the backseat of a car, an abandoned house, a rare books archive, and the Andy Warhol Museum.
